Open Source Tools for Electronics Engineers

This is a post about various open source software available for electronics engineers . I am writing this as a note to myself !

Qucs project : Qucs is an integrated circuit simulator which means you are able to setup a circuit with a graphical user interface (GUI) and simulate the large-signal, small-signal and noise behaviour of the circuit. After that simulation has finished you can view the simulation results on a presentation page or window. See: http://qucs.sourceforge.net/

Free pcb:http://www.freepcb.com/ . FreePCB is a free, open-source PCB editor for Microsoft Windows, released under the GNU General Public License. It was designed to be easy to learn and easy to use, yet capable of professional-quality work. It does not have a built-in autorouter, but it can use the FreeRoute web-based autorouter at www.freerouting.net

XCircuit : http://opencircuitdesign.com/xcircuit/ . Open-source circuit-design program for Unix/X11

geda: The gEDA project has produced and continues working on a full GPL’d suite and toolkit of Electronic Design Automation tools .http://www.gpleda.org/

That’s all for now ! Enjoy!
